Newly restored Gothic masterpiece in city centre.To help you begin to think about your ceremony we offer A New Zealand Prayer Book which contains three versions of the marriage service. All three services can be adapted if you wish and you can mix and match sections from each as you prefer. The clergy are happy to assist you through the process. If you choose to write your own service, the prayer book services are a useful outline for what needs to be in it. The beauty of St Matthew’s architecture attracts many couples to take their pre-wedding photographs in our church. There is a fee of $150 per hour if you hold your session between 9am and 5pm on Monday to Friday. A fee of $260 per hour if you hold a session on Saturday or Sunday. We also require a $100 deposit if your session is on Saturday or Sunday. Other things to think about for the service include readings and music, and who you would like to participate. Secular and religious readings are frequently used during the ceremony. There are ways to personalise even the most traditional service. Other traditions have become popular such as the lighting of a Unity Candle. This is your day and we are here to help you along the way.

As you enter the grounds you are drawn to the buildings’ unique style and incredible bell tower. The moment you enter under the bell tower you are embraced by the charm of the classic estate. The high vaulted timber ceilings in warm Macrocarpa present an immediate WOW factor. Entering the dance hall, the grand wood fire place will next catch your eye. This room is a stunning wet weather option for your ceremony and particularly cozy for a winter wedding. As you look around further you notice the attention paid to detail with many dated photographs and carefully chosen ornaments of interest. Step outside to the courtyard and luscious lawns immaculately maintained, and enjoy the tranquility as the fantails flutter about the trees and gardens. With 3 acres of property to explore there is ample room for your guests to spill out and find their own private corner. Tucked away in one of the corners is our pergola, and primary wedding ceremony site. No need to worry about your guests hearing the ceremony as our portable sound system takes care of that while allowing your chosen music to be played. Over the years we have added a few more garden features that offer locations for family and bridal party photos. Our latest is the Jetty. It is located at the edge of the property nestled in the native bush by the stream that borders the property. Watch for further photos of our bush setting at the other end of the property. With huge Kanuakas and native ferns, this shaded area is lovely for family photos on a hot summer’s day. Another favourite resting spot is our rustic swing, nestled in the shade of the trees. A perfect spot to gaze back at the venue. Imagine the bell ringing to announce to all the commitment you and your fianc? have just made. A truly special touch. Auckland’s historic Wintergarden Pavilion, originally constructed in 1913, has been fully renovated in 2011 to become a stylish character-filled venue for weddings, functions, and conferences. Set above the duck pond, and amongst the lush gardens of the Auckland Domain, the Wintergarden Cafe makes a perfect morning meeting place for coffee and breakfast, or to enjoy lunch and afternoon drinks. Adjacent to the Wintergarden Cafe is the Kiosk at the Wintergarden which is currently under renovation, but will soon be open daily for fresh picnic supplies, gelato, or take-away fresh-roasted coffee.

Couples are welcome to arrange their own forms of entertainment, catering and refreshments to create a memorable occasion. We can recommend preferred caterers, celebrants, photographers or equipment hire companies if required. Note – Stretch limousines are not able to access the driveway into the venue.
