For Western House Bed and Breakfast guests we have mountain bikes and golf clubs that they can use free of charge. Or if you like something a bit more thrilling we also have motorbikes available to hire. You can also just sit back and relax in a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere during the day or keep snug and warm in front of a cozy open fire during the winter months.

The R.Tucker Thompson is Northland’s iconic tall ship located in the Bay of Islands. Operated by a not-for-profit charitable trust, she operates tourism products for visitors over summer, using profits to support sail training activities for Northland youth over winter. The R.Tucker Thompson caters for up to 47 guests on board and is available for sunset ceremonies or full day event. Hold your service on board anchored in one of the beautiful bays in the Bay of Islands or out from the historic village of Russell. We can provide an informal or formal setting, whatever you want your wedding to be. Your guests can sail the ship or simply relax while our friendly crew do the work for you.

Luxury Accommodation with Wedding & Business Facil This venue is unique in that it is able to accommodate small intimate weddings as well as larger celebrations. Inside the family lounge and dining room are suitable for smaller weddings. Leather couches and wooden furniture are introduced to create a cosy and intimate setting. Tables and dressings, crockery, glasses etc. can also be supplied at cost. The Retreat contains a large kitchen making catering easy and a double refrigerator/freezer so the party can supply their own refreshments, food etc. The double garage also has double ovens, microwave, fridge/freezers, freezer, hot and boiling water facilities for caterer?s usage. A spacious marquee (November ? April only) can be erected on the lawn to provide a festive outdoor setting. Its size and provision of a floor as a pre-requisite, is subject to the Retreat?s prior approval. Additional charges for attendance and access may apply.
A restaurant, a bar and a laundry are available to guests. Guests arriving in their own vehicles can park in the car park. All accommodation units feature air conditioning and a bathroom. A balcony or terrace is among the features included with most rooms. Many accommodation units offer beautiful sea views. A kitchenette equipped with a fridge and tea and coffee making equipment is provided as standard. An ironing set is also available to guests. Internet access, a telephone, a TV and a radio are provided for guests’ convenience. In the bathrooms, guests will find a shower and a hairdryer. A hot tub provides an opportunity for relaxation. Leisure options at the establishment also include tennis, table tennis, squash and a sauna.
